Medical Communications is changing, with the strategic focus shifting to a digital-first approach. For this reason, the delivery of consistent and relevant online content is a key part of any communications campaign. At Brandcast Health, we have the perfect skill set to support our clients in achieving their business goals through digital strategy and production.

To enhance our offering, we are looking to expand our client services team with a talented and motivated Senior Account Manager.

We’re looking for someone who can confidently lead projects and leads others in delivering effective project work, accountability for their work and others. We want our SAMs to own their role and take the lead in delivering innovative solutions for our clients, working in collaboration with the wider team. A SAM would execute large projects or oversee them, mentor junior client services team members, delegate effectively, provide strategic insight to further company and client interests, and seek out and shares knowledge.

Each SAM would be working within what we call a Pod. A Pod comprises a few client services members, an editorial lead/writer and a Project manager. The Pod is responsible for a few accounts. The structure is intended to be as follows (you can also find more details within the Overview presentation) and we currently have 5 pods at Brandcast:

  • 1 Account Director/Senior Account Director also called Pod Lead
  • 1 Senior/Project Manager
  • 1 Senior Medical Writer
  • 1 Junior Medical Writer
  • 1 or 2 Account Managers/Senior Account Managers
  • 1 or 2 Account Executives/Senior Account Executives
  • Freelancers as required
Location:

Brandcast appreciate that people like to work in different ways and live in different locations within the UK, and therefore offer hybrid working; a mix of office and home working. Employees are encouraged, when able, to meet up in person for regular meetings and social events. Currently, they have 100% remote employees based in Manchester, Gloucester and Winchester.

Essential
  • At least 3 years in an agency role, ideally 1 as a SAM already
  • Excellent client services skills demonstrated by gaining repeat business or great client feedback
  • Understanding and experience of a wide range of relevant projects and therapy areas
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Understanding of management role and delegation skills and experience in mentoring junior team members
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Fully up to date on ABPI compliance and guidelines
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment
  • Passion for digital innovation and problem solvingt
Desirable
  • Life Sciences degree (BSc or MSc with a preference for pharmacology/pharmacy, or biomedical experience)
  • Experience delivering digital projects for various teams
  • Experience in influencing organic business growth
  • Leadership skills, and ability to influence without authority
  • Direct line management experience
Key responsibilities include:

Project Management
  • Ensures accurate meeting minutes are developed and distributed to clients within 24hrs
  • Ensures status sheets are kept up to date, and shared with clients 24h ahead of status calls
  • Ensures project folders are kept organised, and all documents saved and correctly labelled
  • Ensures resources are appropriately allocated to all projects (internal and external)
  • Understands, adheres, and proposes improvements to agency processes
  • Works with Project manager(s) to ensure projects follow and stick to timelines
  • Works with Project Manager to identify issues and implement solutions in a timely manner, and flags larger issues to Account Director
  • Develops risk assessment and implements strategies to mitigate them
Account Management and Client Growth
  • Maintains day-to-day and professional and supportive communications with client
  • Supports/develops and maintains account plan, working closely with Account Director/Pod lead to grow account
  • Independently manages accounts of up to £350,000/year
  • Independently takes an accurate client brief for projects up to £40,000 and ensures project briefs are documented for all projects
  • Ensures accurate and detailed briefs are developed for production teams
Financial Acumen
  • Independently develops budgets of up to £300,000
  • Ensures reconciliations are completed accurately and on time on all jobs (interim, as required; within 1 week of project completion)
  • Liaises with suppliers and ensures that discounts are negotiated when possible
  • Ensures all invoices are generated accurately and on time on all projects (within 1 week of project initiation/completion
  • Develops and maintains forecasting sheet for all allocated accounts
  • Understands finance implications of forecasting and billing on the wider business
Content
  • Collaborates with Editorial team and Account Director/Pod lead to define content direction and strategy based on client brief
  • Demonstrates impeccable attention to detail
  • Works with Editorial Team to ensure quality checks are performed on all assets developed by production team, on allocated accounts
  • Supports Editorial team with scientific accuracy, reference, and sense checks, on allocated accounts
  • Ensures content produced matches client brief and works with Account Director/Pod lead to review work
  • Demonstrates understanding of the code of practice (e.g. ABPI), and ensure compliance on all content produced
  • Demonstrates understanding of the products/brands and therapeutic areas covered by allocated clients
  • Demonstrates a good understanding of what good content is, in various formats (e.g. video, web, print)
Medical Communication Strategy
  • Seeks insights into clients' marketing / Med Ed / communication strategy, and works with Account Director/Pod lead and Editorial lead to make recommendations where appropriate
  • Supports Account Director/Pod lead as required
  • Demonstrates full understanding of multichannel approach applied by agency, and supports implementation throughout accounts
  • Demonstrates full understanding of communication strategy applied by agency, and supports implementation throughout accounts
  • Seeks new trends and opportunities to innovate within this space, and proactively shares these with Account Director/Pod Lead
  • Demonstrates full understanding of the industry
Digital Strategy
  • Supports Account Director / Head of Digital, as required
  • Demonstrates full understanding of various digital formats and platforms used in the agency
  • Independently manages the development of various digital assets (big or small)
  • Demonstrates knowledge of UX approaches and work with our UX consultant to apply them for our clients, when relevant
  • Suggests new digital approaches outside of projects/accounts
Mentoring/Line Management
  • Coaches and mentors less experienced team members
  • Successfully manages at least one team member, including setting objectives and assessing their achievement, and assessing job performance
  • Influences without authority
  • Provides constructive and positive feedback
  • Demonstrates good listening skills
  • Supports the development of onboarding and training resources for agency
Leadership
  • Acts in a professional manner at all times
  • Builds positive and productive relationships
  • Demonstrates sensitivity and respect for different approaches

New Business
  • Proactively seeks new opportunities for organic business growth, and flags them to Account Director/Pod Lead along with suggested approach
  • Supports Account Director/Pod Lead with the development of new business proposals
  • Supports the Company’s marketing drive, raising the company’s profile
Professionalism and Advocacy
  • Drives the growth of the department and adoption of processes across agency
  • Develops strategies and initiatives to grow the department and its reputation
  • Influential internal agency advocate
